MORGAN CENTENARY CELEBRATION

Cruise aboard the MV Conway

As part of our philosophy of adding variety to the Centenary event we are including an evening cruise on the river Severn. We will be sailing from the riverside town of Upton upon Severn, which is a few minutes drive from Junction 2 on the M.50. From Cheltenham it is 19 miles and from Malvern only 8miles.

We cruise through glorious unspoiled countryside towards Worcester, with views of the Malvern Hills and past cliffs full of Heron nests. During the cruise there will be a meal served and we will be entertained by live music. A cash bar will be available.

We have chartered the MV Conway Castle for our private use. The MV Conway castle is the largest passenger vessel on the River Severn. Being a purpose-built passenger boat, she has a uniquely spacious interior, with an upper and lower deck, together with two large exterior decks. Whilst maintaining many of its original riverboat features, the Conway Castle is refurbished at the beginning of each season.

The vessel is 104 feet long, 22 feet wide and weighs 120 tons. She was built in 1964 and is the sister ship to the MV Cardiff Castle – both originally intended to work on the River Dart.  She was brought to Upton upon Severn in 1977 coming here via Lands End – quite a feat in a flat-bottomed boat drawing only 4’ 6”. Our hosts, Severn Leisure Cruises operate mainly private charters and specialize in good food, and good service so we should have a most enjoyable evening.

Please note that for safely reasons stiletto heeled shoes are not permitted on board.
