Morgan cars opens showroom in Qingdao, China
9 December 2013: Beijing,China. Morgan Cars China has opened the first showroom in Qingdao, Shandong province, China. Guest of Honour Mr. Ian Lockhart, First Secretary (Trade and Investment) of the UK Trade & Investment Department of the British Embassy, formally opened the 320 m2 showroom in the 20 Yinchuan West Road, Shinan district of the seaside town Qingdao on 7th December at a gathering attended by local dignitaries, media and Morgan car enthusiasts."
Jia Jun Ying Jie Auto Sales is the Authorised Dealer in Shandong province for Morgan Motor Company vehicles, parts and merchandise and is registered as such with the State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC). The showroom on Yinchuan West Road has been fully renovated and has on display two Plus 4 models, which had made the 8,000 km journey from Malvern, Worcester, England. These are the first Morgan cars to reach Shandong in the 104-year history of the Morgan Motor Company.

Ian Lockhart, First Secretary (Trade and Investment) of the UK Trade and Investment Department of the British Embassy was the Guest of Honour and made the following comment, "The Morgan Motor Company of Malvern, UK, has hand built cars since 1909 for customers who appreciate bespoke British quality. On behalf the British Government, I thank Jia Jun Ying Jie Auto Sales for their investment and their faith in Morgan cars and in British industry. I wish them all success in sharing the Morgan story with car enthusiasts in Shandong province."
Morgan Motor Company vehicles are imported by General Distributor Malvern Morgan Cars (Beijing) Co. Ltd., which has appointed Jia Jun Ying Jie Auto Sales. Managing Director Jim James said, "The management team at Jia Jun Ying Jie impressed us with their enthusiasm and commitment to introduce the 104 year old Morgan brand in Shandong, understanding that bespoke British cars will appeal to a discerning community of car enthusiasts. This showroom is the perfect venue to start the tradition in what is one of the largest car markets in China."
Morgan Motor company hand builds some 500 vehicles per year, and started the sale of the Classic Range in China in 2013. British Ambassador Sebastian Wood opened the first showroom in Beijing in June 2013. China overtook Europe in vehicle sales in 2012, and the United States in 2009. Sales of passenger vehicles increased 6.8% to 14.68 million units in 2013. By contrast Morgan produces a niche luxury car, each one hand built to order. The cars have passed the necessary inspections required for registration for license plates in cities across China.
