Morgan Thrill On The Hill 2015

Glorious sunshine at Shelsley Walsh provided the perfect setting as the 3rd Morgan Thrill on the Hill event had no problems building on the success of the previous years.

Now in its 3rd year, the Morgan Thrill on the Hill event at Shelsley Walsh has become a highlight of the year for many Morgan owners. With hundreds of Morgans to see both in action on the hill and also on static display in the historic paddock area, there was plenty for visitors to get excited about.

Latest offerings on display from the Morgan Motor Company included the new Morgan Aero 8 and EV3 electric 3 Wheeler prototype, both of which took to the hill throughout the day. More historic Morgan offerings included a whole host of three and four wheeled vehicles taken from the factory’s heritage fleet, normally on display in the Morgan museum.

The lunch time break saw a moving evolution of Morgan cars take to the hill as a number of stunning vehicles joined in convoy to delight the onlooking crowds. Martyn Webb’s 1923 3 Wheeler was the earliest car present on the day and as such was chosen to lead the parade. Keith Ahler’s Le Mans winning Plus 4 TOK 258, Dixon Smith’s 1954 4 Seat Coupe and a factory owned Aeromax were among the prestigious cars to follow Martyn up the hill. The final car in the parade was a new Plus 8, handed over to new owner Brian Voakes at the factory on the Saturday morning, the stunning blue Plus 8 was the most recent car to roll off the production line at Pickersleigh Road.

It was not just Morgans on display either. There was painting from automotive artist Ian Cook (aka POPBANGCOLOUR), a spectacular aerial display from Rich Goodwin in his Pitts S2S Muscle Biplane and a host of trade stands as well as children’s entertainment and live music for all. As well as owners taking on the famous 1000 yards in their own cars, there were also hundreds of Morgans displayed on the infield parking area.

“It is the enthusiasm, passion and friendly nature of Morgan owners that helps to make events like Thrill On The Hill so succesful with such a great atmosphere. It was a real delight to welcome so many of our customers back to Shelsley for the third year running and I would like to thank everyone involved for helping to make it such a succesful event. See you next year!”
